Structures Engineer (Mass Performance)


  • Identify opportunities to drive mass reductions and increase mass fraction in the early phases of a design. This includes making educated design trade decisions that weigh cost, performance, structural reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Curate accurate mission specific mass properties and performance predictions for flight vehicles, maintaining cadence with launch schedule.
  • Reliably deliver accurate mass properties predictions for flight vehicles, maintaining cadence with launch schedule
  • Work with design teams, production crews, trajectory analysts, and other teams spanning a wide cross section of the company to institute improvements in overall vehicle performance.
  • Work on other structural analysis and/or design projects outside the scope of this role simultaneously.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any STEM related field
  • At least one year of demonstrated experience with structural design and analysis projects (including internships)
  • At least one year of demonstrated experience in one coding language

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in structural design and analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complicated, valuable problems with minimal oversight
  • Ability to work well with a variety of people in a schedule critical environment
  • At least one year of experience working in Python 
  • Detail oriented but able to focus on critical end goals

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to support mass measurements at alternate shifts as needed
  • Occasional travel may be necessary (<10%)
