- Multi-disciplinary position responsible for the design, operation, installation, and test of low power electrical systems at Vandenberg Air Force Base
- Maintaining and upgrading the data acquisition system hardware
- Maintaining network infrastructure interfaces to data acquisition system
- Building and designing junction boxes and conveyances for end instruments on the pad/transporter erector
- Creating electrical schematics for new instrumentation
- Responsible for the ground support control and instrumentation systems that operate the fueling and operation of the launch vehicle/spacecraft to support launch day activities. Directly involved with Launch Pad system build, checkouts, and troubleshooting.
- Using electrical equipment in the field to verify functionality of end instruments
- Maintaining systems throughout the year through a preventative maintenance program
- Addressing physical installation issues and wear/tear/corrosion of electrical components
- Writing procedures to address both routine tasks as well as off-nominal troubleshooting steps
- Provide innovative solutions to special requirements and challenges faced by the team
- Requirements range from specialized equipment to challenging installation locations and blast environments
- Working outside to help major tasks
- Pulling cable
- Basic electrical installation of valves, limit switches, potentiometers, etc.
- Undergraduate degree in an engineering related discipline is required
- At least 1 year of experience with instrumentation power systems design (professional and/or academic lab experience)
- Understanding of basic low power systems and basic DC circuits and filters
- Experience with a data acquisition system and instrumentation of some type (school lab setting or professional experience)
- Experience with one or more of the following electrical test equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency or direct hands-on experience in one or more of the following: electronics test rack design & build, data acquisition setup and field measurements, build of electronics systems or test systems for local assembly or industrial applications. (Examples fields are: robotics, automotive, aircraft, marine, autonomous vehicles, RF or communication systems, power plant or chemical process type industrial systems)
- Able to communicate clearly and interact with a wide range of people.
- Able to perform in a high-pressure environment.
- Able to juggle a multitude of tasks simultaneously
- Team oriented
- Enjoys field work and getting hands dirty
- Able to work under minimum supervision
- Occasional travel may be required.
