Launch Technician

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Stage, set up, assemble, test and install flight hardware
  • Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, micrometers and calipers
  • Perform hands-on operations with both large and small, fragile assemblies
  • Operate over-head cranes, forklifts and man-lifts
  • Perform work according to procedures, specifications and test instructions
  • Read, understand and follow detailed schematics, drawings and instructions
  • Collaborate with launch engineers to develop and document activities
  • Ensure launch services are performed on time, safely and in a professional manner
  • Gather, verify and arrange data from multiple sources
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment while adhering to company policies, quality policies and industry standards
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 year of experience using power tools in a professional capacity

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Military aviation experience as a propulsion or airframe technician
  • Associate’s degree
  • SpaceTEC Certification
  • Ability to perform hydrostatic and pneumatic testing
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
  • Knowledge of pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices; mechanical and electrical systems
  • A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings, manuals and reports
  • Skill in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity
  • Experience supporting launch pad operations during a SpaceX launch campaign
  • Windows 2000/XP
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • General physical fitness is required for some work areas. Flight hardware typically is built in tight quarters and physical dexterity is required
  • Ability to lift heavy objects is required (35 lbs)
  • Able to work at elevated heights
  • Able to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain
  • Able to travel
  • Must pass Cape Canaveral Air Force Station background check
