LEAN FACILITATOR

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive the continuous improvement philosophy within all production and staff areas
  • Run and facilitate process improvement workshops, training and information briefs
  • Apply value stream mapping
  • Influence the production processes to improve “hours per vehicle”
  • Influence the production management team for the delivery of key performance measures
  • Develop and implement cost reductions, processes and efficiency improvement measures
  • Work with cross-functional teams to increase production throughput by a factor of ten in the next two years, whilst maintaining the highest possible standards of quality
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of manufacturing efficiencies, quality stability, and reduction in costs through the systematic removal of waste from the process
  • Develop process flow to ensure workloads are balanced between technicians and test processes are integrated
  • Utilize production optimization tools (swim lane charts, work balance boards, string diagrams, story boards etc) in order to remove waste from the processes and delivery desired output quality and rate
  • Establish an environment where 5S achievements are world-class by the nature of cell and equipment design (shadow board solutions, tool holding, demarcations, kanban markings, team boards, electronic visualization methods etc)
  • Delivery of the 5S process training, application, measurement and sustainability
  • Mentor lean facilitators
  • Stand-in as project champion during lean six sigma projects
  • Head Capex & ROI for future investments required to achieve core rate
  • Review potential projects with production directors & steer where necessary
  • Provide mentorship, coaching and training to team members. Maintain team training documents
  • Solicit team feedback and provide morale assessments to management
  • Train & coach black belts in training, presentation skills and delivery of Lean training
  • Review production directors requirements and align green belt project accordingly
  • Stand in when departmental manager is unavailable
  • Coach & challenge lean methology used within the production process
  • Review & help develop strategic direction of spacex production group
  • Drive all Lean Six Sigma projects to hold time line
  • Lead Lean training development and execution
  • Manage TMS database, including target setting and adjustment
  • Stand-in for process improvement manager

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline from an accredited university
  • Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma
  • Minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environment

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of management or supervisory experience
  • Experience in lean manufacturing, efficiency methods and 5S
  • Experience bringing teams and processes from development to production desirable
  • Understanding of lean manufacture principles, 5S, value add, non-value add and waste
  • Strong analytical, computer, and written skills
  • Mastery of Microsoft applications (Excel and Power Point)
  • Experience monitoring, tracking and continually improving total cost equation
  • Be able to train production management and technicians to apply continuous improvement
  • Excellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy
  • Be highly motivated with a great attitude for change management

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to travel (less than 10%)
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with engineering and production
  • Able to adapt to a fast paced work environment
  • Position may require long hours and weekend work
