Receiving Inspector – Temporary


  • Utilize inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers and profilometer
  • Approve or reject items and document inspection results as required
  • Perform documentation review and verification of certifications, specifications, and conformance to design requirements
  • Communicate with internal customers and suppliers to resolve inspection discrepancies
  • Use electronic MRP system to route parts and components to proper departments 

Position Details:

This is a temporary position with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, and is subject to change with minimal notice as business needs dictate.

  • LENGTH OF POSITION: contract end date is slated for end of Q3 2018 (end of Sept 2018)
  • LOCATION: Hawthorne, California
  • SHIFT: Day

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1 year of receiving, precision, mechanical, or metrological inspection experience

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Forklift and other related inventory equipment experience
  • Experience within the aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, or electronic fields
  • Experience detecting design and drawing flaws
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications using ASME Y14.5
  • Experience with GD&T and use of metrology tools and gauges
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. unassisted
  • Standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are a part of this role
  • Ability to work all required shift hours, including overtime and weekends when needed
